It needs more, IMO.  A diorama has to be more than some figures stuck onto a base.  If this had some water obstacles, an impact crater or even some debris scattered around, it would pop a bit more.  I'll take over from Gino (HeavyArty) in this regard.  While the figures are good, I would want more if I am paying someone for their work like MM is.

First the figures are painted way better then I can hope to do, but something is just missing. Doesn't say what beach head this is but since its Americans i'm gonna assume Omaha. Wheres the panic? Wheres the rush to get off the beach? As Wirraway said it needs a obstacle or something. Also the guy with the flamethrower just looks like hes out for a Sunday stroll doesn't care that he has a fire bomb strapped to his back with every MG42 in the area trained on him.

Edit

Ok so after looking at the figures again it looks like there wearing the patch for the 1st infantry div, so this would be Omaha beach

Thanks for all kind comments and suggestions. As I'm running out of display space, I prefer small than big diorama. Another thing is that I already have a Omaha beach diorama complete with obstacles and vehicle built by another artist long time ago. Is this what Wirraway and Rambo would like it to be?:

Wow I got the exact same figures from a "Junkyard lot" of figures recently and just ordered another Omaha beach figure set.

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

VERY nice work with the water, MM.  Looks VERY realistic.

The vignette (its not really a diorama - no story to tell) was not built by MM.  He buys all his pieces from other builders, so he didn't do any part of it.

To add to what the others have said about its flaws, the figure w/the bangalore torpedo (long pole) is about to take a face plant since the lower end just dug into the ground.  Also, since there are no clues as to a beach under attack, it looks more like they are storming Miami Beach as opposed to Omaha Beach.

By the way, there is no water, so I'm not sure what you are seeing.
