Wupps! Found some errors already.

On Page 2, Adding the Chaff Ports, last image - corrected the inside dimensions of the chaff ports and the spacing between the ports.

Thanks for the good words, my friend! Sorry to hear about your clips (and divorce) but I understand about your vision problem. I'm getting there too. Thanks to my magnifying glasses, I can still do some building. Guess I'll keep at it as long as I can .

Many thanks for the offer of the MK-82s but all my trailers are built now and I don't think I could force myself to build another one lol.

Living proof of the quality of your work!

I started the clips and got the pylons cut to size, but while I was working on that 5 years ago someone burst angrily into my hobby room in bad need of a divorce! - no kidding! LOL!

I don't think I'll ever get around to completing the clips now, my eyes are bad and hands aren't as steady anymore either, but good news is that I do hve some MK-82's around if you need them!

I forgot to mention Russ, if you don't put those pitot tubes back on the underside, think of all of the 1/72 scalps you'll save!!!

I did look at your helicopter build and it's fantastic! Just building one of those tiny things would put me in traction, but you're building two! I love the corrections and added details!

Bombs On Board!!!

I've finally gotten the urge to build again and decided to upgrade or improve some of the items in this diorama. One of those upgrades is building a more accurate model of the bomb truck trailer. The one I built originally is too short to carry a full load of bombs for the pylons. The ones most often used were almost twice as long and could carry a full twenty-four 500lb or 750lb bombs for the two pylons. The picture below shows the actual trailer with a load of 500lb bombs.

 

These trailers were also used to haul partially assembled bombs from the bomb storage area to the munitionjs hardstand, a building where the bombs were finally assembled and then loaded onto the bomb clips and the bomb trucks. The picture below shows the massive amount of bombs that could be carried on these trailers.

 

For the trailer wheels, I used the rear wheel assembly from the Academy M35 2.5 Ton Cargo Truck kit. The pictures below show my progress so far, and a comparrison in size between the new trailer and my original trailer. The tractor is from my original bomb truck.

Not a problem, bud. This hobby isn't about production, it's about fun, and relaxation. If it's not either one for you, you need a different hobby .

As a matter of fact, I bought an airbrush, a compressor and a vent hood, set it all up, tried it a few times, and decided it's not for me. Too many frustrations (I hate painting anyway...). So I guess I'll put it up for sale and get back to my rattle cans and paint brushes.

Yeah Russ, I hear you on the painting! I was lucky in that I started early with the airbrush, but yes, overcame many nasty frustrations but haven't painted anything for about 8 years now......maybe even longer......I still like those old kits that you could build after dinner and play with, never had to paint them.....Revell and I think Comet used to make the styrene with super fine aluminum powder, so they were actually shiney bright aluminum right out of the box, surprising. I have a couple, also one of the old chrome plated kits......but in the end, I always strove for the correct outline and shape, not the finish so much. While I learned the history of the aircraft, I was never big on individual tail numbers because when it got to that level, the model would sit behind glass or end up covered in dust. i used to find ways to make the styrene kits fly at high speed. In the end I was modifying them and putting Estes rocket engines in them. Oh well. I still get a kick out of the stacks of kits even if I don't build a lot anymore.

Nice to hear from you Russ.

I got everything set up including my airbrush hood then fell ill with gall-bladder-itis and ended up in hosptial, then never got back to my BUFF project. Now it's summer so everything is just sitting around waiting for me to return to the bench. I found all those bombs you assembled, so kindly, for me and the clips. Actually got the BUFF back up on fish line in the hobby room, and did start reassembling the nacelles after shaving the exhausts nice and thin.....that's all I got done in one whole year.
