Hi !

One of the things I recently tried was this . Put a dab of silicone on your base , over a small coil of nylon thread . As the silicone sets , draw the thread upward till you have a splash . For bigger stuff you can use a frayed  end piece of ribbon . At least that's what I have so far .It's okay . T.B.

Hi rdmeyersr!

Sorry, that I answer to you bit late, but I managet to find these links again untill today.

I made one test by using this method as inspiration (starts somewhere 1:30): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO0cy2eoKjI

Also found this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ_398GVQwM&index=3&list=PLmMlILiNXkczJs-Hfsem875O1UKDnTjfO

However that guy speaks about silicon (as I understood with my bad english), I´m not 100% sure, that it really is silicon.

What I used was this one: http://www.illbruck.com/en_GB/products/SP030?contains=sp030

I tested with tube witch was bit outdated. Well, two years outdated. That´s why it was already turned bit brownish. Still it worked well in my mind.

Here´s my tests:

Explosion:

"LVP" at sea:

Hope these will help.

Hi Ron,

I just ran across this thread and I may be able to help here. Check out this link  http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=37923
I
have studied model water for a while and one method to make splashes is make them out of cotton and acrylic gel.

Water Effects Question
Posted by rdmeyersr on Thursday, August 27, 2015 9:36 AM

I'm looking to do some explosion water effects for a small diorama and remember seeing someone do them in silicone but cannot find the how to no. Anyone have any ideas or sites instructing how to create water explosions? Thanks,

Ron
