Fired Up

I want to model a small campfire for an urban diorama.  Can you recommend any materials to make a simple fire?  What colors do you recommend?  I have a range of acrylics including Tamiya and Vallejo paints. Thanks for your input!

Well, the most realistic fire I've seen is Modelcrazy's burning T-72:

He used a LED though, for something small without lighting I've had decent success with painting the fire gold and them adding a couple of layers of Tamiya transparent paint in orange and red.
