1/72 Type VIIC U-boat Underway Diorama
Posted by Kaleun on Monday, June 20, 2016 7:32 PM

I need some advice on how to model the wave dynamics on a large diorama. The base is approximately 4' long x 2' wide and my Revell Type VIIC is running at an angle to the long axis of the base. I want to show the U-boat as it's almost finished surfacing with water being blown out of the lower vents. What I did was cut the model at the waterline at the angle I wanted: slightly bow up with a slight roll to the left due to gentle seas.

Here's my question: what do I use to model the water and how would the u-boat be affecting the surface. i know it would have a wake alongside but what about the waves coming off of it? Also, having just surfaced, I figure the diesel engines, having just started would probably not have gotten the submarine up to speed yet.

    Advice? Comments? Thoughts?

Never mind. I figured it out since none of you would respond to my query. Thanks for all the help.
