Abandoned Warehouse - 1/24th Scale
Posted by Grandmondo on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 7:13 PM

Hey guys I am again sharing another Diorama . I always liked abandoned places in some way , they have so many details to watch and it seems that there are many stories behind all this dust . So I did my version of an abandoned warehouse.

CONSTRUCTION

I used various types of materials in this work , but mostly paper. The walls are foam , I applied plaster on them to give realism in cement texture. Using a sponge I got the desired effect. The rungs of the ladder and platform are made of paper and styrene pieces for handrail. The letters fixed on the wall are made of plastic , they were used in old restaurants to sell their products in cafeterias . The vehicle used in the scene, is a kit of Fujimi , Autobianchi Abarth model . Rusty and abandoned in character to the scene. The dumpster has been completely made from scratch using styrene rods and tubes and metal parts .

WEATHERING & PAINTING

Painting done using Vallejo and Tamiya paints. Asphalt is just a piece of sandpaper with a little dirt. Acrylics and pigments to achieve the rust effects.

The dumpster is just like the one we have at the body shop, except your lids are way better......  Nice work.

My dad was a metal man during the glory years of Lincoln-Mercury. I have his rollaway and all his tools, some useful for modeling, others not so. That favorite dolly of yours, Goldhammer.....

Now , question ? Where are you hiding the N.C.I.S. team ?They seem to spend a lot of time in places like this too .

Also , what happened to the car ?First it's there then it's not . did it get towed ? LOL.LOL.  T.B.
