That looks pretty good! A lot going on. Great ground work. I like the light snow effect. What did you use?
Where'd you get the dog? Thanks
Griffin
Thanks.
Yeah, my dioramas generally tend to be quite "busy".
For ice, I used Magic Water resin from unreal Details with a touch of white pigment to turn it opaque -- probably needs a tiny bit of blue/black added. The light smattering of snow is Shovelled Snow from Deluxe Materials which is almost dry-brushed on, and the Frost is Baking Powder from The Wifes Kitchen Supplies.
I can't remember where the white metal mutt came from, but he's supposed to be the US Field Nurses pet and looks to be a bit on the large side, so I'll probably replace him with a smaller resin example from my stash.
I added a few final touches earlier today.
E.g. Some frost on the canopy of the jeep at the back. Filled the booze bottles, although they look more like alcopops than cheap Belgian wine. Improved the paint blending on certain of the Tankers jackets. Replaced the road-sign, (with distances estimated from the attached map). A few other bits & pieces that are probably not obvious -- and I finally got brave enough to paint "RAGE" on the right side of the Sherman's 76mm. It got done, first time at that, with far less drama than anticipated, and to my astonishment, it actually lines up with the one I did on the left side as well.
The original photos are a bit washed out and "noisy", so I also adjusted the camera settings to obtain better and more accurate color tones in these additional photos, (as in the true and actual colors of all elements in the diorama).
And of course, it now strikes me that the road-sign needs to go further back so that it indicates the dirt track to Schmidt is behind the tree-line, plus the stock on the Thompson stuck on the side of the escort jeep needs woodgrain added, and the mud splatter on it could be better.
Sometimes I think the big secret with dioramas is knowing when to stop..!!..
