1/72 figures
Posted by DRod on Monday, August 14, 2017 6:30 PM

I am looking for figures to go with a 1/72 helicopter.  The figurs I am looking for are modern age people to be looking over the subject.

Any ideas who can supply such a figure?  I am specifically looking for a lady in a dress and gentleman in a suit.  Also a pilot.

Thanks for any ideas!!

I would recommend the sets made by Preiser.  They produce sets mainly for railroading gauges ( 1/87, 1/48 and 1/32) but they have a small line of 1/72.  One set is of passengers, both men and women, walking, talking.  Another set is of pilots.  Prices aer all over the place due to the number of figures contained.  They are made of styrene so your modelling skills can kick in to change their pose by cutting and glueing.

There are knock-offs on e-bay that are less expensive.  However they are made of ABS whcih requires acetone in order to work with the plastic.

Hope this helps.

I would suggest looking into model railroad suppliers. ..ho scale is just a tad under 1/72 (1/87 to be exact), but when you need a magnifying glass, would that small difference really be noticeable?

There's a huge difference between1/72 and 1/87 (HO) scale that is very easy to pick out unless the viewer is kept at a good distance from the display. Assuming an average height of 1.8 m for a person, a 1/72 figure comes in at roughly 25mm tall and 1/87 makes the figure 20mm.

If you're going to use model railroad suppliers, I'd suggest OO scale, which is pretty close to 1/76, where figures are about 23.5 mm tall. This is close enough to suggest random differences in height and stature.

Yes I have looked at HO scale are they look close but not quite right for what I want.
