Thanks for the comment Axeman. I wonder when I put stuff on here why so many look but don't comment. Is it worth putting anything on this site?

Thanks Bakster. I'm busy just now did you just want to take the keys and try it out?

Oh I've just thought as I'm in the UK, I built it right hand drive!

Pat,

I have reviewed both of your VDub builds that you posted and they are outstanding. Seeing your builds reminds me of my childhood in SoCal with all of the different types of VW's lowered and done up nice. I saw a High Gloss Black 1968 Notchback all chromed out with all chrome Porsh cookie cutters and to this day I wish I owned it.

Don't worry about how many replies you get, please keep posting your work. Thanks for sharing your builds and I look forward to the next one. Maybe if you did a WiP you would draw a larger audience.

Thanks for your comments Hunter. Yes these Pick-Ups were only seen here as contactors vehicles until relatively recently, now everyone seems to want one. We built a cal look Beetle with our youngest of two sons 20+ years ago.

We have a major show in the UK, The BugJam at a local drag strip. We were there at the first one (20+ years ago) when all you saw were Beetles and a few Ghia's, now the favourites are the campers, vans and pick-ups, and the show gets bigger and bigger each year!

I confess, I often don't comment, and frankly I get a bit tired scrolling through pages and pages of 'Nice work' or 'Hi' over in the introduction forum. But I do enjoy looking! I'm just not going to comment unless I have a question.

I type on a tablet. Please excuse the terseness and the autocorrect. Not to mention the erors.

Great subject; it's something different from the usual armor dioramas. Yes Now all it needs is a swimsuit-clad man and a bikini-clad woman!

I remember SoCal would have a Vdub car show going on all the time. Bugs, Ghias, squarebacks, notchbacks and buses were all popular. I was young when vdubs were slowly fading out and lowered trucks were becoming popular.

Thanks RudyOnWheels.  Scale Production.de resin transkit, a Hasegawa, VW Pickup Kit, Two Mountain Bikes from Fujimi and a few other bits...........

Also from Scale Production.de......... a roof rack.......

And from my local on line site Hiroboy, the Safari front windows....

I bought the Hasegawa kit purely to copy the chassis to put under the DoKa.

Nice model. Have to think when I saw my first VW flatbed, do remember seeing pre-WWII Woodies 60 years ago whilst living in SoCal, by time we'd left there September 1, 1963 saw fewer though still good number of post-WWII models plied the Long Beach-Mid Cities area.
