There are cheap China bristle brushes that you can buy by the box cheap with white bristles.

I type on a tablet. Please excuse the terseness and the autocorrect. Not to mention the erors.

Pawel--a very observant person--has hit upon some important details here.

Even if we presume the farmyard features of the house are at the "back" of the diorama, the foreground will not be a neat yard.

Not unless the dairy cow (very rich farm) is set loose to drop it short middling regularly.  If, this family had goats or sheep, those would keep the grass somewhat short.

(Side note:  both sheep and goats crop grass very short--golf fairway short; horses and cows leave much more grass standing.)

In any event, unless there was a specific something in a direct line from the front door, there would not be an explicit path.  Now, if there were a well, there would be a dirt path to that (which the chickens would also peck clean).

So, the "front yard" grass might be short--static grass-- with dirt borders around the cabin.  Or, it might be quite long steppe grass, and I do not know a great fiber to recreate that vegetation.  I might try finding a "blondish" 3" wide paint brush and harvest its bristles.  Or something like that.

Hello!

I'm not sure that I understand your concept right, but I think you mean a single house somwhere in a remote location. This means they need some farm animals to balance their diet - and if you have some chickens, then the yard is never grassy - it's mixture of gravel and chicken s...  - you know what. So some chickens for eggs and a cow for milk. Pigs eat too much, only very rich people can afford something like that. The yard would have fence made of wood - heavy twigs or planks if the people are rich, so that the chickens don't run away too far. A dog might be there to catch rats and weasels, and a cat to take care of mice. Very few industrial products - not too much steel objects, not too much paint on anything. Wooden tools.

As for the surface you might want to sparkle some fine sand or maybe dry plaster of paris on wet celluclay. Grass - where the animals can't get - would be best done with static grass.

Hope it helps, please post some pictures and have a nice day

Paweł

Static grass would be your best bet. Search YouTube on how to make a static grass applicator for around $10.

I am building a duo with a log cabin in Ukraine set in the summer. I want to put in a yard and path to the cabin. Since most of the story will take place in the yard I am asking for suggestions on how to make a grassy yard and path through the yard.  It will be placed over celluclay. Thank you for your ideas and suggestions,

Leddy
