That really shows off just how big a thing Houd Dog was, nearly an aircraft of its own in size.

Which can be hard to appreciate next to the immensity which is a B-52.

Bravo.

Thanks, Gam! Very kind of you!

Actually, I plan to use the trailer with a missile as part of a future diorama showing a Cold War B-52 being loaded with nukes for the alert pad.

Cheers,

Russ

Oh wow, very cool! Nice work, I really like the grundy, worn look of the transport cart.

Ever think of putting her on a small tarmac base?

This has been an interesting build, but I'm glad to be finished. Below are some pictures of the finished items.

Many thanks for looking in, and for your comments.

Cheers,

Russ

Hey, TB,

Thanks for the good words!

As for how I'm going to finish up, I've added the catwalks and the tool boxes, but there's still a lot of work to do. I need to add the control panels and some other detail, then paint the upper sections and then I need to make some decals. Below are a couple of pictures of where I am at present.

Cheers, and thanks again!

Well Gee !

A missile . This ties right in with my comment in the Ready Room , Discussion Forum " Question " . The model is very nice . You've done a very nice job on the Missile and an outstanding job on the trailer .

Now , How are you going to finish up ? I can't wait .

Hey Russ, I'm seeing your photos fine now.

And nice work there! In 1/72nd it looks tiny.

Some additional progress. Piping on the first trailer is complete. Here are a couple of shots.

Thanks for looking!

Hi, Gam,

I don't see them either. Can't see them in my albums at Postimages either. This has happened before but usually on a weekend. Trying to contact them.

Thanks for the heads up,

Russ

Russ, I'm not seeing any photos. I've got two different browsers up and they don't show on either. So you guys are seeing them without any issues?

Pawel

Hello Russ!

Very cool! I'd say that you're again modelling what no man has modelled before! Just looking at that missile makes me think how terrible the cold war was. And I - in Poland - would be on the receiving end of it...

Good luck with your build and have a nice day

Paweł

Hi, Pawel,

Thanks for the good words! :)

RE: the missile... Amen, my friend. We all would have! I was a pre-teen in those days and I remember the tension and worry we all had. My biggest fear was I wouldn't remember to look away from the flash...

Ah well, that was then and this is now... Model on! Big Smile

Cheers,

Russ

1/72 AGM-28 Hound Dog Missile Trailer/Cart
Posted by Striker8241 on Sunday, February 4, 2018 2:51 PM

Hello, All,

This model will be a 1/72 scale trailer/cart for the AGM-28 Hound Dog missile, which was part of our nuclear strike force back in the 60s and 70s. The trailer will be part of a future diorama which I plan to build which will show a B-52D bomber in SAC colors being readied (cocked) for the nuclear alert pad.

An actual missile scheduled for loading normally had the aircraft pylon pre-mounted on top of it, as shown below, since it was easier and faster to connect the pylon to the aircraft than to connect the missile to the pylon. Photo is courtesy of Wikipedia.org.

This model will be completely scratch built except for the wheels, which are from a Hasegawa Aircraft Weapons Loading kit. The pictures below show my progress so far. I've completed three examples of what I call the lower section of the trailer. Next, I'll build the upper section, which was designed to move back and forth on the lower section rails.
