Pz.Kpfw VII Löwe in mud and snow Completed pics

It looks fantastic it! I like how you transferred the mud effect from the ground up thru the tracks and the running gear to the tank hull, something often not seen in dios like this.

The Lion looks sort of like a JS II, very massive. 

It looks very nice, Krycell is certainly the best snow product that I have found.

Sailing, ye, i am liking it. I think next time i will have to do a deep snow scene, and woulod like to add it to an urban scene as well.

Tiger, they are difficult to see. On my paper Pz builds i tend to go for low viz markings, hence the small black crosses and outline numbers.

Yep, I'd enjoy seeing more dios. I stopped building them after a bit as I had no place to store them and I hate to throw them away.

Bish, I missed this when you originally posted it, so I’m happy that somebody pulled it up to the top and I was able to catch it this time. I’m not a paper panzer fan, but I do love what you did here. The base is excellent, really catching that winter thaw look of the muddy road. The tank and figures work  together perfectly. What is the base color of the tank? I'm really thrown off trying to decide what it is here... seeing that the subject never came to be in reality,  you can’t be accused of having the wrong colors and shades here.

Thanks Stik, glad you found it. The base colours are the standard green and red brown the Germans did use, just minus the Dark Yellow. Even before the weathering, which i kept light, the 2 colours were hard to tell apart unless right up close. Once weathered and the white wash added, its harder to tell them apart. But thats why i like trying these things out on paper panzers. The photo's don't help as they have a slight B&W tint to them.

Ah hah! I wasn’t sure if I was seeing brown or green. I almost thought perhaps something like Olivgrau or Olivgelb... but the green and brown makes perfect sense had the 1945 color standards continued. 

And a damn good idea to try out things on paper projects first... 

I always try and imagine how German colours would have evolved over time, be it 6, 12 or 18 months. I tend to prefer the colours being used at the end of the war and work on the pattern.

I took another look at your dio to admire it, and I was wondering if that is Krycell snow? I have seen that used before and it sure looked great on the other dio's I've seen it used on. There's a company here in the state's called "The Scenic Factory" that has 2 grades of snow (Fine&Heavy) that looks very realistic also.

I have heard of the Scenic factory, i got some bts off them a few years back, thing i can't get here. This is the only snow i have used so far, this being my first winter armour dio but i have used it on a couple of aircraft dio's. I do really like it, but i made the mistake of not putting in footprints before it had dried. I plan on useing it more as well as some of there other items as the range is growing.

I wouldn't worry too much about the foot prints. You'll catch it next time. I've been going through the "Group Builds" and you've got some really nice work in those also. Everyone in those has produced some great builds. I'll get there one day.

I have not tried there mud kits but i did get their pine branches which were really nice. Worth shipping across the pond.

I treat every build as a learning curve, if i don't learn at least one lesson on a build, then i think i have done somthing wrong.

The Group Builds are fun, but can be addictive. I think about 95% of my builds in the last 10 years have been in a GB, i enjoy hosting them as well. If you find a GB that catches your eye, jump in and join it. Don't mater how long you have been building, everyone is welcome and i have found it a great way to learn and pick up ideas.

I have got a few of the pine trees from the scenic factory too but haven't used them yet they look amazing.

You are so right with that statement. They have a great selection of size and the stage of the tree itself. From healthy to distressed. I really like the European Spruce Pine it looks very real.

Really interesting to hear that about those trees. I have been wanting to get some pine trees, i have at least one dio in mind i want to use them one. I can't find anything decent in Europe and i wasn't sure how the Scenic factory one would look, and they are not cheap just to find out they are not so good.

Do you guys get the kits or the ready made trees. I understand they don't ship the complete trees over seas so i will have to get a kit. I know they are not cheap, but worth it for the right dio.
