  I felt bad that my repeat of  "... blow up stuff real good" was  ill conceived and perhaps caused the delay of his posting updates.  I do regret my "blow-up" comment.  Although meant to be funny, along with others,  I had feared it was the "Straw..."

The actual bridge was first a simple wooden trestle and later a multi-span steel truss bridge using bridge sections removed from Indonesia. That bridge is still there.

As a note, Peter was complaining of ill health on a different site, and I have not seen a posting from him in about six months.

We had plans to take a tour to see the original bridge wreckage and the replacement bridge while I was over there but the war caused the trip to be canceled and I never had a chance to go again.

Again-- I love this, and so does my son.  Trying to grasp the distance between each pier (spanning across the bridge), then pier to first tower, then to next tower, then to piers on the opposite end from start.......

Looks awesome. What's the distance between the piers (rows of 3)?

To Peter, we here in the North America were exposed to a Canadian Series called SCTV.  Which had a sketch which referred to things being "blowed up real good" which turned into a schitck of its own.

So, it's not our fault we like seeing things "the good lord might tak a shine to and blow up reall good, now, y'hear?"

"Cross-members!" Thank you Minder for reminder.

Turning the bridge around, seeing that I will not finish the bridge, so there will be scenes of POWs still working on the bridge.

Used a pencil mark to help me centre, and align, the shorter cross-beams. As shown, I added some more marks. Later, I will mark the whole bribge to simulate bolt heads and the like.

Minder is showing-off again. He assures me that he used to be a tight-rope walker. Basically, the bridge framework is finished.

 We must remember though regardless of the horrific treatment is that Japanese male society had no words in their vocabulary for Surrender . 

 That's obvious in the behaviour of japanese units that fought losing battles , only to be wiped out to a man by the Allies . The Code of " Bushido " has no reference for surrender . So , they saw any of the prisoners as less than human and treated them accordingly .  T.B.

T.B. We all know, deep within us, what is right and what is wrong about life, regardless of belief systems. We are life, we know we want to live. It's inate and instinctual. Denial of this truth creates stories of why we choose to ignore our own instincts. But even denial cannot be an excuse, for we have to know what we are about to deny, before we can deny it. The truth, has been covered up by our on fear of being responsible for life. IMHO.

 Finally , I got back on . I must laud you for this project as well as the other one . Because of my unexpected banning by electrons , rather than the Moderater I had to just read this thread very intensely .

   The Bridge looks great .I think That Aurora or someone did a model .I don't believe it lasted more than one run . I have never seen it but occasionally in photos of old models. Sadly the bridge and it's creation are a horror story , however it actually looked was horrific for the prisoners building it .
