C-47’s dropping paratroopers with chutes opening

Hi, I am new to FSM forums and this is my first post. Photos and links seem a bit complicated, so this might take a few fumbles.

I would like to share a fairly unique 1/144 scratchbuilding and diorama project that I hurriedly completed for a temporary exhibit. My modeling results were of mixed quality, but the overall effect turned out well. I think other modelers might be interested in trying something like this and taking it further, perhaps with better details, other scales, and other aircraft.

I got some ideas from FSM scratchbuilding forum thread "A deployed parachute" that ended incomplete in 2011.

I have plenty of photos I could post, but all are also in two YouTube videos I just made. The first is 12 min of photos and parachute science:

D-Day Parachute Drop Diorama

https://youtu.be/_P4A_mZ_rgw

The second is 20 min of construction details:

D-Day Parachute Drop Diorama construction

I am sure that FSM forum discussion will be more focussed and interesting than YouTube comments, so I would like to hear from you. Thanks!

Welcome aboard. I do hope that you get the image thing figured out here soon. I'm a sucker for any airborne related subject, but I really don't care for sitting through 30 minutes of videos on you tube to see somebody's work.

Cool.  Great idea.  Is that in the living room?  I see a tree topper.  My wife wouldn't have it lol

Thanks,

John

Not my living room. It was part of a 6 week Christmas Tree / Model Train exhibit at my local bakery.
