Revell Me110 F-2 Finally completed with pics!
Posted by KJ200 on Sunday, January 3, 2010 3:11 PM

Those of you with a long memory, might remember me starting a WIP thread on this build back in November 2008!

Well, come December 2009 I finally finished it, and now in January 2010, here are the pics.

This is the Revell 1/48 G-2, which isn't, as it is more of an F than a G, and thus I decided to backdate mine to an F using an Aires resin gun bay and a set of Owl decals & flame damper exhausts.

I've left two of the four forward machine guns off, as they really didn't want to fit, so I'm assuming they've been removed for cleaning.

These aircraft were subject to heavy exhaust staining, not helped by the very pale RLM 76 camo scheme.

Like RAF Fighter Command aircraft in the B of B, the Luftwaffe painted their night fighters black under one wing and the fuselage to aid recognition by trigger happy flak units.

The 'black' is actually my usual Tamiya NATO black, shaded along the panel lines with straight black.

One of the differences between the F & G series aircraft is the DF loop under the rear fuselage, made up from annealed wire wrapped around the handle of my trusty Badger 100.

Well after 14 months it's done, and thanks to the encouragement from the regulars on this forum to complete it.

Thanks for letting me share.

Karl

Very nice, all the way around!!!!

I love that kit, along with the 410 as well. Need to add one to the stash, mine are due to be replaced.

Love the finish and weathering.  Did you pre-shade with a brown?

Very, very well done Karl!  Weathering is first rate, especially the stains.  Your builds have a certain finish to them that just looks "real".  Not sure how you do it, but I am quite envious of your results.  Glad to see that I am not the only one who can really drag out a build!

Karl I always enjoy looking at your work and as usual I'm very impressed, as Frank said you do achieve a great finish with your paintwork. Looks bloody marvelous Toast

Karl, very outstanding build and finish my friend. I have never seen a Luftwaffe bird with the two tone underside, very interesting.  Overall a great build
