 I finished this jewel up last month as a gift for a mentor of mine who really likes Corsairs. I only have $33.00 wrapped up in the build including the kit, some AM seatbelts and AM bombs (I also robbed a set of wheel/ tire assys from a spare Eduard Hellcat-I couldn't help it as they were just way more detailed). It's the Revellogram F4U-4 Corsair shown here:

I really thought I was gonna pull my freekin' hair out at one point when I had all the gaps that I did. I mean who thought of manufacturing a kit where the air intake was a separate piece?? This is just ONE of the hurdles I had to overcome with this kit. I could actually do a whole WIP in here if I showed all of the issues I had with this kit. lol

Yeah............it was like this on both sides! This thing went in the trash can two times before I stuck it out and turned this out:

Paint is Vallejo Air Acrylic with MM Clear flat thinned with 70% ISO and all decals are OOB. Exhaust staining is ground up pastel that was dry brushed on. Gun barrels got a TOTAL makeover using a drill for the barrel cavities and syringes for the barrels.

The wings! OMG the wings!!!! They do not fold and to show one in the deployed/ extended/ lowered position was a major overhaul as well. A true test of patience, planning and execution!!!!

 All in all I'm really happy with this build and didn't expect to see it even finished. Thanks for looking guys, Joe

Wow what a coincidence on the thud. This is my last build for 2014, the monogram 1/48 F-105G.

Here's the 1/48 F-4C I just finished for the 50th Annivesary of the the Vietnam War GB.

not as stunning as yours, but it's my best build up to now, got my canopy from Revell

just wonder how do you pain the white lines on the canopy. I did it using masking tape and spraypaint, and the result is terrible!

what a coincidence, I've just finished decaling my Revell 1/48 F-4C Phantom that I built 4 months ago, for the anivesary of Vietnam War too (I'm Vietnamese) :)

Wow! This is awesome seeing all these incredible Vietnam-era aircraft painted in SEA Camo patterns! Gotta love it! Way to go gentlemen!

Here is my completed old  Monogram 1/72 F-4J in VF-84 markings. Quite a very nice kit. No fit issues and the details were just amazing including  full cockpit and wheel wells details. Decals are from Vagabond. the stand is from Airfix.

Thanks Jay. Yep it's a tiny 1/72 to me at least since I work with 1/48 and 1/32 but the details and fit are fantastic.

PJ, I have always heard nothing but good things about that kit. Yours is just more proof of that! Beautiful job!

Thanks stik. I will be grabbing several of these little guys at shows when I can find them to have several colorful squadrons. They are small but the details are great.

Wow, stik, that looks great! Beautiful paint job! I really like the streaking on the belly. I saw an F-4J today at Hobby Lobby. I think it was Revell. I don't remember the scale, but I don't think the box was very big. Anyway, that's a beautiful model! That close-up of the exhaust ports shows some pretty amazing detail for 1/72

That is a excellent build plastic ! I cant believe its 1/72 scale. I usually only stick to 1/48 subjects and the occasional 1/32 subject as far as aircraft go, After seeing this I just ordered 2 of those f-4 kits to try out 1/72.

Here is my 1/48 Monogram P-38J "Droop Snoot". This was a late 1960's kit release that included all the parts to make the droop snoot, recon, or night fighter all in one kit. The later releases from monogram and revell did not include the extra options.

Those are some cool builds, Wolf. There's a ton of detail in the P-39 molding...not bad for an early 70's kit.
