Folks, here's Academy/Minicraft's B-29A Superfortress I finished for Vetteman's Natural Metal II GB. NM is about a 50/50 mix of Alclad plain aluminum and polished aluminum, Decals are for a Korean War bird hence the USAF on the wings.
Canopy fit wasn't great, I really need to sand it to fit but I'm a bit paranoid after having clear parts break on me while doiing this.
Size comparison with a ruler and a 1/72nd Fw-190 (sorry don't have a Zero in scale).
There may be some seams in the wings and tail fin since I friction fit them in place instead of gluing so they can be removed for transport. And the horizontal stabilizers keep wanting to droop even though I've glued them in place about three times.

That's one sweet B-29! I'm a fan of post war markings on World War 2 designs. How long did the project take?

Looks terrific Gamera, the finish is really impressive. That scale perspective is fascinating with the 190, the 29's stabilizer looks about the same size as the 190's wing!. It's interesting to imagine how big (and intimidating) those must have looked to smaller single engine fighters.

Great looking Superfort! I had to sell-off my B-50 because the amount of NMF was too intimidating on that scale, sticking to 1/144 and hope it comes out as well as your finish.

Nice looking B-29, love the NMF, nicely restrained, no over the top effects with pre and post shading. Pity of the poor canopy fit.

Roger: I'm not sure how long she took. I started her about six months or so ago but I work on several things at once so it's kinda hard to estimate on how much time I spent on this model alone.
Most of the kit was a simple build since the B-29's fusilage is pretty much just a tapered tube and the wings and tail planes are simple slabs. Heck of a lot easier than something complex like a P-38. Biggest problem I had is the long seam in the upper fusilage kept breaking. I'd sand it and it would pop, so I'd putty it and it would pop again even though I reinforced the inside with expoxy and tried to be very gentle with sanding. I like how she turned out but I'm very happy it's over. Guess I should try to fix the darn canopy but I want to work on something easier for a while now

what's the problem with the canopy fittings? the clear piece was not good molded?
this is one of most expensive kits from academy in this scale, it's a bad thing if an important piece like this is so wrong
