What other aviation GB's are planned for 2013??
Posted by Dre on Friday, November 23, 2012 2:55 PM

I know that the FW 190 GB kicks off next year and I'm curious as to what other new group builds are planned, or are being considered for the new year.   As I wind up this year's GB commitments I'm looking forward to new ones for the new year.

Not sure about aircraft specific GB. But there are a few more open ones. 1943, First Time and D-day spring to mind. I have one in the pipeline based on kits given as presents. There are a few that go on into next year as well.

Well if I may, let plug my Japanese Group Build Part II. It starts on January 1st and I've got the sign-up thread up in the GB forum. Figured I'd start putting notices around in the other forums tomorrow when the thanksgiving hub-bub has died down some.

I am planning an Arab/Israeli Wars GB for late in the year after my Korean War GB finishes in July. It will include aviation subjects of course.

I was hoping to see if anyone at some point would maybe interested in a post 1945 USN GB? Not until say June next year running until next Christmas, but that's a long way away.

Well my Korean War GB is still running until July of 2013.  In addition to the Arab/Israeli GB starting after that, in Aug '14 I am planning to start a Vietnam War GB. Both the Korea and Vietnam GBs would include most post WWII USN aircraft. The Arab/Israeli one would be open to British and French subjects of Suez 1956, and potentially to various  Western stuff in Lebanon 1982-84 including the USN strikes there in late '83.

I have a couple of kits that would fit into that. And its about time i added a modern US aircraft to the built collection. If it is June next year, i reckon i should have cleared most of my GB's by then.

I am planning another GB similar to my 8th AAF GB. But that won't be until the end of next year/eary 14

Stik, the Viet GB sounds interesting. Looks like we are all looking very much long term for the GB's on here..

Bish, at my pace of building, I HAVE to think long term... WinkWhistling The Vietnam GB I really do hope will be at least as active as my Korean War GB has been.  The variety of aerial equipment alone is staggering- from WWII era Skyraiders and C-47s , to the latest swing wings in the F-14 and F-111, from the 'in the weeds' 0-1 to the edge of space SR-71.

Thats very true, not that i build mondern armour, but would the GB include the land war as well.

As for me, i have two kits that would fit. A B-52 and an F-111. Not sure i will be ready for the 52, but might give me a time frame to aim for.

Yes, it will for anything involved in the Vietnam war, land, sea, and air. Open to Aircraft, Armor, Ships & Watercraft (anybody have one of those old Monogram Armed Junks?), and figures.  While I am primarily aiming this from the 1964 to 1975 time period of active direct US involvement from the Tonkin Gulf incident of Aug 1964 until the fall of Saigon in April 1975, I am considering allowing subjects from the French Indochina War of the late 1940s/early 1950s and the intervening "advisory" period.

Stikpusher is your Vietnam GB in 2014? If so I would like to say yes, I really wanna do a USAF Phanton or Super Sabre in 1/32 in SEA colours.

Affirm Dean. Barring the Mayan end of the world next month, or my untimely demise anytime afterwards, I plan on kicking off a Vietnam War GB in August 2014 on the 50th anniversary of the Tonkin Gulf  Incident.

I just stumbled across this post while researching aircraft used by the France during the French/Algerian War and the French Air war over Indochina

I like the idea of allowing subjects from the French Indochina War era , I've started building some 1/72 helicopters and aircraft from the French Algerian period and have started collecting kits for the French Indochina era .

I still have a few kits to track down but there is a web site which lists a lot of kits and decals which are suitable for the Air War over Indochina

http://www.hedgehoghollow.com/awoic/review_index.html

Anyway . I'll keep adding to my stash and keep an eye out for a possible GB starting date in the future .

John .
