It's definitely looking good! I'd love to participate in the group build but I'm already working on two other kits for the Monogram group build. At the rate which I complete models, those two planes will keep me busy enough.
I've got the visible B-17 in my stash along with a fair amount of aftermarket resin to go along with it. Normally I never touch resin but I thought it might be a fun little exercise to give it a try. At the best, it'll turn out looking great. At the worst, it'll be a reminder as to why I don't deal much with resin at all.
A couple of things I'd like to bring up. One is that, from what I've been reading recently, the fire extinguishers you see in the kit's nose section should be painted silver. Again, from what I've read and have not yet verified myself, fire extinguishers during the war years were silver. The red color wasn't used until much later. I hope someone can chime in and shed some light on this.
The other thing I was thinking is that the interior of the B-17 was, indeed, painted but the bomb bay area was not. It was left silver. I'm not sure if it was unpainted or if it was coated with some sort of anti-corrosion paint. Again, I'm hoping someone far more knowledgeable can offer some more insight into the matter.
