1/48 Hasegawa Ju-87 B-2 Stuka

I've been working on this thing in Bish's Stuka GB and thought I would bring it out here to show to all the folks here too. I started with a Hasegawa offering and used an Aires cockpit update kit. I have the double throw down Aires update with the enigne and all but just couldn't bring myself to break up the lines of this beautiful snake motif on this particular bird that I chose to build. I also used an Eduard canopy mask and some Verlinden details in the forum of the oil reservoir access displayed just in front of the cockpit on the port side and the wing mounted machine gun internals on the port wing. Paints are all Master Modeler acrylics on the exterior.

Depicted here is aircraft T6+CP of 6/StG 2 from Libya in 1941 and was flown by Leutnant Hubert Polz. Its one of the more interesting schemes out there for Stukas. The color of the motif from what research I have done is still a mystery. It's either red or tan. I had both but chose to go with red due to the more sinister look of the red.

Whoa! That turned out amazing. The decal came out perfect as well as the camo. Man, she just looks mean! Just like a Stuka should.

Stunning....and he adds the Jericho trumpet... Nice touch! Aren't those Eduard masks the best? I would like to buy the inventor of those a beer...

Was a pleasure having this in the GB. She is a real beaut. This is certainly one of the best Stuka schemes.

Nathan:Thanks dude! It's been 18 years coming but I finally got this thing built!!! lol

Joe:I , like you, just couldn't resist the siren installation. Alot of pilots elected to go without 'em but due to the noise and even though its politically incorrect why not put it on? It just adds another conversation piece to the model......and yes those Eduard masks are da bomb! Thanks buddy!

Bish: Thanks man and I couldn't agree more on the fact that a Stuka doesn't necessarily need a certain scheme to look good. It's an odd thing about this airframe to me, they don't have the smoothest lines of aircraft but somehow they just have an awesome look to them.

Greg:Thanks for your comment as well and can't wait to see what you've got in store for the GB!

Hey mustag, fantastic model there bud. Love that paint and the markings are fantastic. Great weathering too, just the right amount. That is a show winner! :first:

I have this one in my stash but it's a ROG with the same markings. I wonder if it's a rebox? However, the snake decal is present for the portside fuselage only. Is this correct?

PJ: I think what the deal is- is that it is unclear if the motif was used on both sides of the aircraft. There are no pics of the R/H sides of these birds and apparently there's more than one. It's also unclear if the color of the snakes were red or tan. I have both red and tan but the decision to use red was a clear one from the beginning and I used decals for both sides. Hope this helps. I can post some pics of what I have in a PM to you if it will help you any.

Holy Smokes Joe! What can I say but, Muy Magnifico!!! That right there is an absolutely stellar piece of modeling. Your detail is excellent, the camo paint job is sharp and clean and the application of your decals is is very well executed. The weathering is really well done. Like CMK mentioned, it's just the right amount for the aircraft. This is just another fine example of how much you have elevated your skills and techniques. Thank You for taking the time to share your Stuka with us.

Basic scheme for a Stuka is pretty simple. From 1938 until the end of the war they use the standard splinter scheme. RLM 65 underneath and 70/71 on top. White wash and quite often desert schemes were then usually applied on top, as on Mustang's build.

Hmm, I'd neither realised nor noticed that. I had wondered what order Joe painted this complicated-looking scheme. Now it all makes sense. Thanks, Bish.

Joe, I did some back-reading over in the Stuka GB yesterday, got caught up on some your WIP that I'd missed. Love the cockpit, you done it justice, then some. Everything else, too.

But where 'da skis???? Wink
