I have three Nichimo 1/20 Cessna 172's that are worth  hundreds a piece.  Also One of their Aerosubaru's.   I consider that high up on this list.  But I'm sure that is just a drop in the pot compared to some.

There is a kit collector magazine, or book, and possibly many other sources of the information you seek. Personally I never bought a kit to collect. I have purchased every kit with the intention of building it. I will never live long enough to do that but, I'll cross that bridge when I build it!!!!! The Revell F-102 in 1/48th scale that they produced in the late 1950s is one of my favorites, as is the Aurora Gatha Bomber in 1/48th scale.

I have been wanting to build a kit  I remember from my youth.  It's a kit entitled "Air Power" , a display of about 25 tiny planes of the jet era.  i finally found it on Ebay but alas at a $299.00  price tag.  In my youth I built it for 10 bucks. That's gotta be one valuable collector kit !
