1/72 modern US Navy Pilots
Posted by plasticjunkie on Monday, March 30, 2015 9:18 PM

I need two seated Tomcat pilots for my Hasegawa Super Tomcat and catapult kit that I want to model as a diorama. I rather get a resin set but I haven't found anything. ROG makes a set with 12 seated pilots and wonder if those are decent. Haven't found any reviews on the ROG kit. Any suggestions?

I'd try CMK.  They have a catalog of 1/72 figures, covering a number of time periods.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.

Baron

Thanks for your response but they have 3 or 4 sets of modern pilots and they are standing. CMK is the first place I looked at. Thanks anyway.

I have a friend that strictly builds in 1/72 scale and hopefully he has  a couple of sitting figures that he will not use.

I  had the same problem. Gave up on Navy and am going to use the Hasawa Pilot/Ground Crew kit. At that scale there's no difference between Navy and Air Force.

I was going to suggest the Hasegawa sets as well. I have no idea what the difference is between Air Force and navy air crew uniforms, but I can't imagine in that scale it would be much.

PJ, which Revell set is that.

Both Navy and USAF are about the same, specially in  1/72.

Appears to be a brand new release:

O yes, I did come across that set recently, will have to add those. The set of German Luftwaffe figures they released a couple of years ago seem to be based on the Preiser sets, but these seem to be brand new.

You're safe using the Hasegawa kits.  For the time periods, the Hasegawa kits are accurate and Navy and AF jet pilots had incredibly similar gear.  It has since started differing a bit, and helo pilots are a whole different deal.

My buddy in SC is sending me two Tamiya 1/72 F-16 seated pilots from his stash. That's close enough for me.

Best bet is "PJ Productions"  You can find them on line at PJproductions.com.  They hav pilots, some ground crew in all scales, including 1/72.  Good luck,  lenny
