Very Cool. Man, I built that kit back when I was in high school. That oughta be fun. Nice thing about building a D VII, no guide wires.

Thanks guys, I did get it primed last night but due to a tooth going off I dident get any thing else done. I did research paint schemes and the 'lozenge' seemed to be the choice of the moment for these planes.

I am off to look see what that was all about? Just seems a little bizzare, but then again I never understood the zig zag patterns on ships...

Awe, oh well, just keep busy until tomorrow and then you can work on the Fokker's paint scheme.  Still, a very good job!

Off to a good start, I'd always kick myself when I let my impatience get the best of me when it came to letting paint dry fully.

It's coming right along. Don't fret the mistakes, we all make them. Looking forward to the big reveal on this one.

Nice job with those big decals, they can be a real pain!

Yes the decals were a tough job espically the top wing which is in two pieces hard to get them to line up.

I have most of the base colors down and the decals. Not a lot to add whats been posted before other than I trimmed up the decals with a sharp blade and some sanding sticks. I might get the chance to paint some of that lozenge tonight.

Not too much to add. My bad tooth is distracting me pretty badly. I see the dentist tomorrow so maybe get some relief. In the meantime I have selected the colors and begun with the lozenge painting.

There pretty much just blue, I used blue angel blue left over from the F-18 that I had. There are some pics on page 1.

Got the bad teeth extracted today, two of them, so maybe in a day or two I can get really going again. Right now not so much.

Yea the photos don't really give a good sense of scale but there of different sizes the biggest of which is about the size of a plump grain of rice.

Holy Cow Ulterior Modem !

Your lozenge camo paint job is amazing...talk about patience and eyestrain.  It reminds me of a paint by number canvas ...without the numbers ...but done by Piccasso.

Every morning I read these FSM posts and every morning I am blown away by the incredable work and cleverness of the ideas you modelers come up with.  I am learning so much valuable information and my skills have greatly improved because of you guys .TY TY TY !!!!

At what point in the lozenge painting process did the men in the white van pull up to take you away??  That is some serious steady dedicated effort there!  FANTASTIC!  And in 1/72 to boot!

You are something else.  I believe that I have witnessed something as bad as putting indi track links together. ( I have never done it, but it looks like a pain ).  Your results are amazing.  I built this kit once and painted the whole wing blue.Embarrassed

LOL thanks all it actually went pretty quickly and I left way to many white spaces in there but... If I had to do it over I know what to look out for.

Anyhow lately I managed to do a pretty sad job of getting the struts and wings together. Its a work in progress but lets just say I got some super glue crazing etc. Oh well.

Okay well I finally finished this little project. I am not really thrilled with the results, many things went wonky on me not the least of which is the top wing is on tilted, paint fails, glue fails, etc. etc. I may get another copy of this kit and do a version 2 of it now that I know where the pratfalls are. Anyhow off to the completed pictures.

Thanks for the kind words Ace but I was not really all that pleased with the outcome. I am definatly getting another copy of the kit for a re-doo. Probably make a new thread for it.

That's so Tee-Tiny!  Come up to the 1:48 scale where you don't go blind as quickly! =D

That's a nice effort.  With some better lighting I think you'd be surprised to see how well it came out. Don't sell yourself short. 1:72 can be a tricky scale to work in depending on the subject.

Same scale im working on and you had the patience to paint all the tiny parts...amazing.

Came out quite well.

First model in 10 years! I'm happy with it!
