yeah, the detail and feel of the plastic is very reminicent of monogram. Test fits so no major issues, but Im going to attempt to correct that nose and add a more detailed cockpit. Fingers grossed that doesnt cause too much surgery!

The second thing you notice about this kit, is that the cockpit is pretty wimpy. Its just short. The seat isnt much too look at either...

here is the tub compared to a spare pit (from the monogram F-8). the shallow-ness is pretty apparent.

so, I decided to use the cockpit and an ejection seat from the spares box instead. As mentioned, the pit is from an F-8 kit, while the ejection seat is from the monogram Mig-29

added some belts from tape...

and gave everything a nice paint job!

The nose is something to consider, but you did a great job with the cockpit.

I hope you test-fit the cockpit with the seat in it with the canopy.  I built some monogram Hornets a while back using an AM pit designed for the monogram kit and found I couldn't put the canopies fully down with the seats installed.  Not sure if I screwed something up, but that seat looks really high.

On the nose, I do not envy you that project.  If you happen to have a monogram Hornet around you might almost be better off making a casting of the nose cone (or several to share with all the other guys!).

I love the finish by November stipulation, that's awesome!

Been super busy and haven't between able to post much.... I'll see if I can't get some pics posted this evening. 

I discovered there was a bit of a gap on the sides, Ill have to block that in.

After much trimming and cursing, the cocpit finally fits where it is supposed to! Sheesh. There was just not enough room in the nose to add as deep of a pit as you needed!

Got the nose all spread out, but one half was a bit wider than the other half, and things got sanded flat. A bit of bondo helped re contour things. The split shots were added as weight just incase the balance is thrown off

Conformal fuel tanks blended in. Wing tabs not helping, gotta blend those in too

Wow lotsa work !  I feel guilty about complaining on my B-26 after seeing this.

Looks like its coming along pretty good.  But man, thats more bondo than what was on my 63 Dodge.

Reminds me of the Monogram 1/48 F-14 fit after installing the cockpit tub and trying to fit the folding wing assemblies.

Oh, I'm petty sure I'm insane.... The base kit goes together just fine, it's my additions that require the putty!

with everything all blended together, it is time for rescribing. Yay.

It's not a Hornet but a BONDO-BEE!!! 

Seroiusly, that scribing will be a pain but will look good.
