I am wanting to build a A-10 Warthog in Marine Corps. markings. I already picked VMF-323 Deathrattlers as the squadron. The problem I am running into is finding the right size decals for the tail fins. Any recommendations?

 

The F/A-18s fins are about the same size. Try some decals for a Death Rattlers Hornet.

Mmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyybbbeee on the wing fold. Sounds like a good idea. I need to look,but I think it might already have a molded-on tailhook. Till recently( I believe),all the A.F. birds were required to have a tailhook that worked with a emergency landing system they came up with during the Vietnam War. She is STOL ,and rough field capable.

Field arresting gear doesn't put nearly the strain on the hook and airframe that carrier arresting gear does. Look at the difference between the hook on an F-15 and an F-14. You'll want to beef up that hook.

More diffiuclt would be to make the NLG suitable for carrier launch. That would be a lot more work IMHO than the folding wings (and possibly the tail).

I was told once that the arresting hook on USAF aircraft is used to catch a cable that is rather long and heavy and is not attached to anything. Rather the plane draggs the cable along and its weight slows the airplane down. This is a whole different than the arrestor cables on a CVN.
