Airfix 1/72 P-80 shooting Star

This was actually the MPC boxing of the old Airfix kit, so came with a few odd-shaped crewmen. White plastic, raised panel lines, dodgy fit around the intakes – it needed quite a bit of work. Kit was re-scribed, a vac canopy and scratchbuilt cockpit interior added and a few other minor enhancements. Those roughly painted circles on the bomb noses were based on reference photos of the real thing. Finished with Alclad and some home-made decals for a Korean era a/c.

Nice job Mike!  Wish I could do a finish like that.  Do you give lessons?

That is a really rough little kit.

Clean clean clean!

Hello!

I don't know about the base kit, but the finished product is a nice, sharp model! Congratualtions and thanks for sharing

Gorgeous model! I love those old-school fighter jets from the 50s.

I'll second that.  Amazing.  I'll bet even Paul Boyer is envious.
