Now i didn't realise you were in a band. But wow, you played at Live Aid. That must have been somthing.

Ireland was not pretty back then. I was part of that small war for a few years, spending 4 years in Londonderry from 91 to 95 and six months in Belfast in 96/97. It was pretty nasty.

I remember the fire at Kings Cross, a lot changed on the Underground after that.

Thats the good thing about this place. Its not just about the models, its about the people as well. Its great getting to know others, beyond what they like to build.

 

After your description of the war, I'm glad I did not go to Belfast.  That's where I wanted to go.  That's how stupid I was, I wanted to experience everything so as to be able to incorporate this experience in my music!

Yes, I completely agree with that.  It's all about the person/people that build the kits.  The kits are just the inner expression like how an artists paints.  You get to know the person.  This is the greatest group of humans I've ever met!  Thank you for being my friend!

The F-35 is looking terrific. That armament load out is indeed impressive.

That haul of kits is sweet Toshi. Especially the 1/48 Tamiya Corsair. You will certainly enjoy the Hasegawa kit. Excellent detail and fit with them. Should you choose to expand your F4U Corsair collection I suggest seeking out the selection that Hasegawa has put out. They've molded the other models of Corsairs that Tamiya has not such as the F4U-5, AU-1 and the F4U-7. In fact, I finally added the F4U-7 in French naval markings to my stash last week via a Facebook auction group for $12.00. Score! The issue as that the Hasie kits are OOP but, you can easily score one on ebay. The issue is that they often run in the $30.00-$50.00 range.

I'm certainly looking forward to each and everyone of those builds coming from you.

I showed my daughter your guitar photos.  My daughter's a budding rock artist and she was wowed by the pics.

 

 

 

 

Yes sir!  I liked this kit as it allows you to pick and choose which munitions the builder would like to choose and add to the F-35.  I will be adding all of the available munitions to my build.

 

I'm glad she really was "Wowed" by the photos I took.  Tell her I said to practice everyday and never give up.  Good luck to her!  You see, I was told I would never be a jazz musician.  So I practiced hard everyday.  A few years later in England I smiled at the audience while on stage playing for the Live Aid concert.  So dreams do come true!

The Lightning II is now having it's decals applied.  I'm almost done.  I'll be posting a completed WIP soon.  allan thank you so much for all the support and interest you've shown in my builds.

P.S. Other notable concerts I've played at are the Bicentenial of Bastille Day, North Sea Jazz Festival, and at the fall of the Berlin Wall.

That's too bad about the Hobby Town USA in your area for it to close.  Ours is about 30 to 40 miles from where I live in Streetsboro.  It's in Mentor.  So it's still a drive especially for me.  Getting too old.  LOL!  I wanted to buy a Tamiya Harrier but they didn't have one so I'll be looking on eBay or Amazon for one.  Mrs. Toshi has a $100.00 off coupon for me to use on Amazon prime so I'm excited about that!

I'm not sure if the Thunderbolt group build is no cross-overs or not but I'd love to have you in my Japanese group build too- if it's ok with them you can enter both at once.

Because Raiden roughly translated means Thunderbolt. Rai (Thunder) Den (Lightning) hence Thunderbolt.

I'm going to build the Macchi 202 Folgore, which again means Thunderbolt.

I added the Academy logo decal with the aircraft description under the tail as my memory is so bad.  This will help me.  The other side of the tail has the Lockheed logo.  I did the Lockheed logo was cool to me hence I added that on.  I'm sure all forum members will have a good laugh at this!  I sure did!  LOL!  I hope you have all enjoyed this build as much as I have enjoyed building the F-35!
