Jiro Horikoshi's dream airplane

From the very well done 2013 animated semi-autobiography of Jiro Horikoshi, designer of the Zero, "The Wind Rises".  In the movie, the wind came up and the airplane rose straight up off the platform and flew away.  The box says it is 1/48 scale but if so young Jiro was one big boy, I think maybe 1/32 is more like it.  It is a push together kit, but the fit is superb.  The only bit that needed filler was the fit of the trailing edge of the wing, on the bottom surface there is a long seam to fill because the lower wing is shorter in chord than the upper to give a thin trailing edge.

It's a pleasure to see a Anime kit.  Thank you for sharing, you did a great job in this build.

Never been much of a fan of manga/anime but love this. Cool model and great job you did on her! Yes

Thanks, everyone.  It was a fun quick build.  I plan to build all of Horikoshi's designs, from this to the A6M7 version of the Zero.  Have all the kits in hand in 1/48. So far I've done this one, the Zero prototype, and an A6M2.  Not going to count the several Monogram A6M5's past and present.

Thanks for sharing something quite different John. You've done an excellent job on it. Very cool.
