F-4E Phantom Thunderbird Edition Cockpit Advice

Might try contacting the Thunderbird's Public Affairs office.  They might be able to find some shots of the pits. I do know that the "E's" pit configuration is going to be somewhat different that the "C" and "G".  Plus they probably didn't have all the stuff of a front line version, more for ease of maint. and weight.

I would do one what the one poster said and contact the thunder birds PA department and see if they can tell you anything. As far as if they removed anything for them being show birds.

I worked on the QF-4 for years and we had a lot of e-models here. I might have some pics that you could use for reference. There were some difference in cockpits between e & g models. Because they both had different missions.

I saw the F-16 Thunderbirds at the Daytona 500 last Sunday and ,since I work there, I got to talk to the pilots and crew. Now i want to build the old kit I've had in my stash but the decals are ruined and I can't seem to find any in 1/72. Anybody know where I might find them ?

Just saw a kit that had the 16's a week ago in one of the LHS's.  IIRC it was the 6 birds and was in 1/72.  Don't remember the maker.  Could probably get a set from them.

As an aside, anyone interested in Phantoms might take a look at the web page for the F4 Phantom II Society.  They do a gathering every year called Phancom.  Don't know if 2016 was the last since she has been totally retired now.

Yeah Dec 2016 was the phinal phantom phlite at Holloman afb. But like you said I don'the know if they'll do anymore phancons. Unless they go to the Collings foundation they have that d model they fly.

Castle Air Museum, in Atwater, CA has F-4E (66-0289), Thunderbirds #5 on display. Memorial Day weekend Sunday is "Open-cockpit" day at the museum.  Canopies are up and you can get up-close and personal with your cameras.
