Over at the 100th Anniversery of the RAF GB, Bish had a great question I just wanted to share with all forum members.  Here is an excerpt:

["Bish"]

Interesting looking IP there Toshio. Is there anything that goes in those holes or do they go right through.

["Toshi"]

In a sense, that is just the skeletal shell of the IP itself.  I still must attach the control pedals and the individual dials that are needed to make up the IP.

There's still a lot of parts that go together to make the IP in that I haven't even seen yet.  What I have seen, I don't understand it at this time.

From what I gather, there's PE for the face plate of the dials.  Then comes clear plastic dials of which it seems many are individual pieces.  Then finally a decal.  At least from what I can decipher.  Thank's for asking, now you have me on my toes!  LOL!

[Bish]

Right, so they are individual dials that fit into those holes. Now thats detail. At least you can paint them all seperatly.

Yes, from what I'm looking at, each coressponding dial has it's own color chart although most are X-18 Black.  There are a few red, green, and I think blue in there.

I'll take a photo of that particular step and post it here in a minute or so.  Thanks for asking!

Too bad you have to enclose that beautiful cockpit inside the fuselage.

scottrc, as always, you are so correct.  It will be a shame to cover this cockpit up.  But sharing the cockpit build up with you, and fellow forum members at least gives me the satisfaction in that I was able to share every single step in the Tamiya 1/32 Mosquito WIP!

For me, that's all that counts!  Thank's scottrc for always supporting my WIP and all the read and replies you've so dedicatedly done over these past two years!

Toshi

P.S.  Can you believe it, I've been building kits for now for two years?  Wow!

I am attaching some pics of the Mosquito my then 7 y.o. son and I did @ a year ago. He did most of the work himself. I helped with the decals, invasion stripes and (attempted to) canopy. He's finishing an F-14 and then has a P-61 next in line.

Toshi:  Looking at the cockpit, I noticed the tool near the nose. Being a flight Navigator myself, it appears to be a drfit meter. Prior to modern doppler/etc systems, it allows the Nav to view the aircraft ground track. This data, along with the calculated airspeed and couse allow them to find the flight winds affect on the course and correct accordingly. I collect aircraft instruments and recently saw one in a collection shop. Th seller wanted quite a bit more than I was willing to part with. Looking forward to seeing how your Skeeter turns out.

That's a fantastic Mosquito build.  If I may, have your son post his builds.  I'd love to see his WIP!

Will do. That's him in the upper corner of one of the pics. If he's not working on models he wants to be out doing some serious fishing!

Sounds like a plan.  I'd love to see your sons WIP!  It's exciting to see the young generation pick up modeling.  Thanks to you, he's now interested in building kits.  And there's nothing wrong with fishing.

Tell your son the P-61 Black Widow is one of my favorite aircrafts!

As always an awesome job Toshi, just out of curiosity do you know why there seems to be a window where the Navs headrest would be?

Thank you iampiper13.  As the build continues, there are other instrument and equipment the will be mounted to the fueselaug.  That window is needed for the Navigator to maintain that the equipment behind him is properly running.  It is from what I've read a bullet proof glass.

Thank you so much for your support, it's extremely appreciate it.

Exceptional detail work, Toshi! You must have the hands of a surgeon. With diet soda or tea (HATE COFFEE) in the morning and working out at night, my hands are to jittery to even attempt the work you do. I am finally getting a Tamiya paint stand this week so I can paint with two hands, one to hold the brush and one to hold my hand to keep it from shaking so much! lol. I can't wait to see how the Mosquito turns out.

PS... You got to love Ohios weather.
