Tamiya masks have to be some of the best.

I really love Tamiya masks.  The only thing is I had to cut these out with a #11 blade.  Eduardo is pre-cut. I must say I had fun cutting them out.

You sure did a nice job cutting them out. Without the pre-cut Montex or Eduard masks I usually use I'd really have a difficult time cutting out masks - just don't have the fine coordination and patience it would take to do what you've done so obviously well.

As to the cowlings and panels - Scott's reply to my question was exactly what I wanted to know - you'd have to cut up the panels and thin them all down before painting - an exercise in frustation I would imagine. Of course my suggestion was not to use them on the aircraft, but to have them scattered beneath the plane while the maintenance crew worked on the engines. A lot more work for a build that has had a lot of work involved with more to go.

Tamiya also did the frosted clear for the Hien. It includes a full fuse half to display the details, but you can't see through it very well. Weird that the clear parts included for viewing are as clear as a frosted shower curtain.

Toshi, I'd just paint those panels, because your using them as masks anyways, and then keep them in the box just in case someone asks about them. One thing those parts are good for is painting practice. That's what I'll be using my clear fuselage half for lol.

Thank you for such kind words on my cutting technique on the Tamiya Masks.  You are always positively supporting my projects and I greatly appreciate it.

As for the so called clear panels, it seems to be a very controversial subject with forum members.  I find this enlightening.  I guess ultimately it is my desicion.  I'll definitely leave them off and place them on the side.  Thank you sir for the visit and the read and reply!

As clear as a frosted shower curtain.  LOL!  LOL!  You're the man!  I don't think I'll be purchasing the Hien anytime soon as Mrs. Toshi has the Zoukei Mura Arrow kit eyed out for me.

What no one realized is that I have a whole set of panels in solid grey colors.  I'll be putting that aside and I will be messing around with the frosted shower curtain panels! LOL!  M. Brindos, thank you so much for that laugh, I needed that.

Don't even stress over it, Toshi. I only recommended it because I know you'd enjoy it. You are not required to purchase it lol. Besides, Mrs. Toshi has excellent taste in kits!

You are doing a bang-up job on your Mossie. I like the solution of simply leaving your engines exposed, as those parts are simply awful. Clear as a frosted shower curtain is an apt description.

Thank you so very much, I'm most humbled by your very kind words.  Yes, I agree in that leaving the engines exposed is the best situation. Sometimes, the simplest answer stands right in front of my face.  LOL! LOL!  M. Brindos made me laugh so hard today!!!  FROSTED SHOWER CURTAINS!!!  LOL!  LOL!

Today, I utilized my NEO for Iwata Trigger AB TRN1 for the primer of which was the Tamiya Grey Surface Laquer Primer.  It has a wider pattern in spraying surface plus it's easy on my wrist as it's a trigger brush.

I then went with my NEO for Iwata N4500 Gravity Feed AB.  This AB was used for the Medium Sea Gray Tamiya 2 AS-32.

Then finally, the camoflauge was done with Iwata Eclipse HP-CS.  I tried all of my different Iwata AB to see the differences in weight balance, spray pattern, ease of use, ease of cleaning, and trigger action.  I thought that the Eclipse would out shine all categories mentioned if not more.

Although the Eclipse felt better in my hand and had a more balanced performance, both NEO's not only did their performance well but was not that far behind the Eclipse.  This tells me that Iwata equipment as far as AB are concerned are well made precision equipment.

Below is the outcome of the different Iwata AB.  Which was my favorite?  I have to say that each AB did their performance well for each specific jobs.  I loved them all and would not part with them yet I think in the very near future, I will purchase (With the permission of Mrs. Toshi) one of the high end Microns.  I will say Iwata is my favorite AB.

I have tried the Harder and Steenbeck AB and loved the feel of them but my preference is definitely leaned toward Iwata AB.

Thank you my friend!  The NEO for Iwata does a fantastic job at its price range and can't be beat!

Toshi, The NEO is the one I recently purchased to start trying out. Seems okay, but I need to try using some proper thinner for the MM acrylics. I'll probably get another one to use at home to teach my kids. Any tips on using this AB for a rookie? Thanks, Mike

The NEO for Iwata was built in mind by Iwata to work under low p.s.i. for beginners and flows well at that speed.  I'd say the key number is between 15-20 p.s.i.   All of the NEO air compressor's run between 10, 15, and 20 p.s.i.  There's even a portable air compressor which I thought was pretty cool.  Always keep your NEO clean!

The key is to get the paint at the right consistency, too thin and it'll run, too thick and it'll spurt.  It needs to be at a consistency in general of 2% milk.  Once you get that you should be good to go.  Test the AB on a piece of old throwaway plastic models.  If you don't have that, a paper towel will suffice.

Once you dial in your paint, you're good to go, pretty soon you'll be surprising some of us modlers here!

If you have any more questions in regards to AB go to the AB section -I'm not trying to push you away from me or other modelers, it's just that, that section has some of the best AB people in the business.  They can answer your questions better than I can.

Good work on the free hand camo Toshi.

Thank you scottrc!  I love to do all my camouflauge free hand.  It gives it a real look as if the actual ground crew did that.  It brings me great joy that you not only caught that but enjoy it as much as I do if not more!

The only time I did a non-free hand camouflage was on my Tamiya 1/32 Spitfire and of course the really cool German splinter camouflage.  Thank you scottrc for your continued vigilance on my builds especially this one as it holds a special place in my heart!
