Looking very good. Kinda reminds me of an F86 at this stage.

She's looking really good John! I zoomed in on the wing that had issues, and didn't see much of an issue after the Alclad was sprayed.

Please stay safe with all those fires happening in California.

Thanks guys.  Ya the wing looks better but theres still something there.  Paint came out a bit flat for alclad.  This is my 4th or 5th Nmf with it so I'm a bit confused.  Looks okay though as the f84s in pics I've seen didnt appear to be shiney.  Misplaced my PE dive brakes....grrr.  going to try post shading with tamiya smoke (my secret nmf trick) with my new krome double action ab.

Thanks,

John

Started out with one scheme but the decals cracked and fell apart... so going with this one.  About 1/2 way through the declas.  Liking the look

Thanks,

John

I've done all I can - waiting on replacement speed brakes.  Interesting sitting next to the F-86F - same techniques, same products - different finish which makes me wonder does the plastic come in to play.  So I used my new Krome double action airbrush for the Tamiya smoke post shading.  Love the control, disapointed with the ability to spray a super fine line - maybe need a different needle/tip?  New to double action action.  Also I got a lot of spatter (kinda ruined the finish but oh well - we need to experiment).  But when I disconnected the airbrush from the CO2 the fitting was frozen so it was leaking at the quick disconnect.  I'm guessing this introduced moisture so I'm not blaming the airbrush.

It's a good kit but I'd reccomend after market decals.  Had issues there.

Thanks,

John

Looks good given the issues you faced with the AB. It's suprising how much different this one is than the other F84, they just look totally different. I don't know why they just changed the name and not the F84 altogether. Thunderjet vs Thunderstreak. I like it, well done.

Thanks for the comments all.  Thinking of trying to make this an outdoor museum bird and really fade/weather since my finish is hosed.  I'll try lightly wet sanding first to get rid of the splatter - still no speed brakes :/

Thanks,

John

Kudos to Hobby Boss / Trumpeter.  Contacted support and ordered the replacement speed brakes.  Then sent me the entire PE fret... and they sent me 2 of them!  So if you folks build this I have spares ;)

Anyhow - now she's done.  Biggest problem on the kit was my quick disconnect for my new Krome airbrush that caused spatter when i was post shading.  Anyhow - looks like a dirty F-84F

Thanks,

John

Sure does look good, John.

Good WIP and having never built a HobbyBoss yet, it was extra-interesting to me.

You had some finish challenges along the way, you'd never know it from the end result. YesYesYes

I really like that little jet, which is odd because I've never had a great deal of interest in that sort of style. You have broadened my horizons and that's a good thing.

Thanks guys - I'm considering starting the F-100 kit from HobbyBoss out of the stash.  I'll do a build thread on that one as well and we'll see if we go 2 for 2.  Kit looks really nice

Thanks,

John
