Revell Jolly Green Giant and Hasegawa Skyraider on the Bench today.

Two kits that have been on the shelf for a while that I broke out this weekend. Both 1/72 scale.   The Old Revell HH3 Jolly Green Giant, which I finally finished up with all the filling and sanding, and attached the tail stabilizer. Gona black out all the windows (what else can you do with 1970's clear parts?).  Next is the Hasegawa Skyraider. Don't know how this kit got shelved as there is nothing hard about it. I think it could have been the lack of markings options initially... then I was looking for some replacement guns... Well I have my guns now and Lieutnant America markings from a Wolfpack sheet so no more excuses on his one !

Nice looking Sandy, Pawel. What scale and where did you get those cool underwing things?

Hello!

Glad you like it. I've written more about it here:

http://www.vietnam.net.pl/A1moden.htm

In short, it was an adventure to get the mix of weapons together. From the outside the SUU-23 were in the Hasegawa kit, the rocket launchers were in the Hasegawa weapons set. The M47 WP bombs were scratchbuilt. The small fuel tank is from the Revell/Monogram Skyraider and the SUU-11 minigun pod is from a Mistercraft Cobra (old Matchbox rebox) kit.

If you want the M47 bombs, maybe I can draw them up in 3D and you could then 3D print them?

Good luck with your builds and have a nice day

Paweł

I musta built that HH-3 a dozen times as a kid and likely only paid 0.75 for it.

My idea of build when i was 10 yrs old was no paint and basically squirted glue in the box and shake until model stuck together.I did this while sitting on a park bench on the way home from the hobby shop.

Started painting the Hasegawa Skyraider today. Using paper masks. Overspay is a bit tighter than I would like however...

Here's a little inspirational shot of a SAR mission on its way.

I know ir\t's a Super Jolly but it's the only one I have on hilm.  The last Jolly Green I saw was at Little Rock AFB and it was limping its way to the factory for a determination to see if it was safe enough to fly.  It was covered with strips of metal tape to cover the holes in its side, and I didn't have my camera in my police truck that day.

More cammo work on the Skyraider.  Some goofs I need to clean up, most obviously , how the fuselage cammo merges at the spine of the fuselage. There is no medium green section aft of the wing on the starboard side and that messed me up...
