How to contact Academy for replacement parts?
Posted by Daywalker on Monday, November 2, 2009 4:54 PM

Does anyone know the best way to contact Academy for obtaining replacement parts?  I melted a wing panel last night trying to straighten it. Sigh [sigh]

TIA!

I dunno. I would assume that there's something on the instructions, but that's all I know.

Hey Frank,

Academy is distributed in the US by MRC.

To contact Academy directly, you could try one of the addresses at: http://www.academy.co.kr/eng/company_eng/company_introduction.jsp

I've contacted Academy several times regarding replacement parts and have always had excellent results.  Actually, in the US, MRC is the Academy distributor (along with Italeri).  What I always do is send the original proof of purchase barcode cut from the box top attached to a simple letter containing the parts I need along with my mailing address and contact information directly to MRC.  Their address is:  Model Rectifier Corporation, ATTN: Replacement Parts, 80 Newfield Avenue, Edison, NJ 08837.

If they have the parts readily available, which, in my experience, they always have, I get the parts within two weeks delivered to my door.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks for the help guys, I'll be sure to post back how I get on with this one.

Aaron- believe it or not, it's one of my 1/32 Hornets. Sigh [sigh]  Watch out for those warped wing parts when you get to yours on the 14th and 15th! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Sean- Dang!  Since there was no snow yet, figured I would put that flamethrower to good use on something else. Big Smile [:D]

Very interesting thread, actually I am having the similar problem like yours, and I also want a practical way to get the thing. However, I came here by an accident as I searched how to read and insert barcode values in jsp to solve my bar code problem. Anyway, I found that this forum is suitable for me to stay. I think that I can gain a lot here. This topic also taught me something. Great!

I recently contacted them via email for a replacement upper gun deck for my SBD-2 Dauntless (It was originally released by Accurate Miniatures and now by Academy)..  I found their service to be somewhat poor.  It took "Peggy" weeks to get back with me only to tell me that they could not replace the part I needed, eventhough they clearly had the AM SBD-2 available under the Academy name.  Then she tired to compensate me by allowing me to pick any kit from a price inflated list she provided then take 65% off and add $11.00 shipping.  All fine and dandy but they wanted $59.00 for the SBD-2 Midway Edition.  After I stopped laughing at that price, I did the math and it was still way more expensive than one that could be found on Ebay.  Thanks but no thanks...

I had the exact same experience Joe just had today. Peggy said she cannot replace my 1/72 F/18 D canopy but offered the same lame deal Joe mentioned.  I even offered to buy the canopy. My wife knocked off the dresser a plane that my son built before he became a Marine pilot. I need to replace the canopy to fix it before he visits again. Their customer service is horrible.

However- Revell/Monogram has been top notch.
