Looks to me like the wheels are sticking out from the wheel-wells... You probably could sand the inside surface of them a bit so the wheels fit completey inside... It's not uncommon for the wheels of a kit to be too thick for the wells.

The lack of strut covers is ok, since many on the Eastern Front  Bf 109 units removed them duing the muddy spring...

Unless you have a need for an even, recent coat of dust, it's best to leave that stuff off, except maybe where airflow would push it into the nooks & crannies, but it's usually too heavy-handed for aircraft...  The airbrush is great for fading the colors though...  But if you want dust, it's best to use pastels in strategic locations, IMHO...

Also, some wet-sanding will indeed enhance your weathering and will smmoth out that rough paint... It'll probably affect your decals as well, which won't look bad at all if you do it right..

Thanks for the advice guys, Like I said it not done yet, but there are a few point that I miss.

Raptordriver: Its an old academy kit, 1/48 There wasn't any interior details, so I did it with the landing gears up.

Phil_H: I'll admit, its not my best (The F-86 is still better) I made this one to get me back into aircrafts. Its also my second German aircraft (first one was Revell's Stuka, I gave it to SAIT in a display) but I do like the camo job, only a few places the mistakes are show like the tail and the nose. Also I was surprise how quickly this model was made, just 3 days! I don't know why I made it so fast, guess I was really motivated of doing this one. As for the paint, I later learn the problem by my instructor, my airbrsuh was too dirty and paint build up had ruined the spray, and I ran out of paint thinner after the first coat.

Manstein' s revenge: I don't like "Clean" models, I prefer if there realistique and have showed some combat action, so after I'm finish with basic paint, I usually add a heavy thinner coat of buff for a dust effect, I find it better if its a thin coat not a thick one like armor. For this mode it work out pretty good, it showed off panel line and wasn't too excessive, unlike my p-61 and P-38. The only bad news is that the paint wasn't flat and the buff (as you can see in the photo) stick to the bumps and just made it look bad. At first I thought the bast solution would be to wipe away the buff coat with paint thinner, but my instructor says that it wouldn't work because it might ruined the paint job of the camo, he suggest that I sand the surface of the aircraft with a fine grade sand paper.

BaBill 212: Thanks, my wall color was a perfect backround for the pictures.

Jester75: The paint is Tamiya arylics airbrush on the model, don't forget the primer though.

What type of paints did you use t-rex and how did you apply them? Some if it looks like it was sprayed somehow?

There are some real issues with the finish on this a/c...it looks like dust or sand was mixed with the paint...I can see some fingerprints in the paint as well...and brushstrokes...

Positive I see is that the scheme for this particular a/c looks pretty good as far as colors, pattern and decals...but you gotta fix those basic problems before you can progress...

Hi T-Rex,

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I know I've seen better from you.

This one looks like it's been very rushed. Take your time and pay attention to the basics. There are gaps and seams everywhere which could have been filled and smoothed. (Close up of the nose - the wing root area shows substantial gaps)

Your paint work is way too heavy and looks like your paint hasn't been thinned enough, Do not be afraid to thin your paint and apply multiple coats if necessary. At the moment the thickness of the paint is obscuring detail and filling panel lines.

Sorry, but this isn't one of your better works. Confused

Me 109, Nearly done
Posted by T-rex on Saturday, November 13, 2010 10:29 PM

Just want to show my Me 109 that I've be working one.

It's almost done, I just have to fix the nose cone, paint the figure and add the Canopy. But everything else is done, the camo's great, the decals look good, and the weathering is done.

You can see the rod that will be its stand, but my instructor says the paint isn't flat, so I have to smooth it out with fine grain sand  paper.

Comments are welcome.
