Windsor and Newton Washes
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, March 10, 2003 10:03 PM
Hi all...I am using Windsor and Newton Oil paint thinned with water as a wash. I am applying it after several coats of Future wax have been applied. The problem I am running into is it looks great in the recessed panel lines but trying to clean off the excess is impossible once it dries. I have tried using alcohol and mineral spirits to clean it off but I have to really scrub and then it takes off the Future wax. Any tips as far as what to coat the model with prior to this wash instead of Future ?? or what else I might try??

You must be using the acrylic range, not the oil range..? Try switching to the watercolor range (small, skinny tubes), and mix with water, washing-up liquid and a bit of vinegar. Any excess can be wiped off with a damp brush or cloth.
