Nice work improving the kit seat. Just curious, but which Jaguar kit are you building?

Sigh.  I should have built the RAF version.  Heres a pic of what Ive done so far on the kit seat.  Too bad it wont be sitting in the cockpit.

Ok, here is the answer- RAF Jags have the Mk.9 seat

not to mention some great nose art (some of which I think FSM would not be too happy with...)

Now if I can recall this info when I tackle the two 48th Jaguars (A and GR.1) that I have in my stash

Stik,

Many many thanks for that.  I also browsed Operation Daguet pics yesterday and noticed the ejection handles on top of the seats too, which confirms they carried Mk.4s.  Dang, and I spent a lot of hours converting the seat to a Mk. 9.

I think Ill just sit for a while and cry....

Hahaha!  Oh well, time to build a new seat.  Ill try posting pics of what Ive done with the *erroneous* Mk.9 seat later.

Again, many thanks!!

Ok, I pulled out my Dauget book. And did a bit of image searching myslef. Now it appears that the Mk.(9 has no pull ring(s) at the top of the seat

While the Mk.4 family does have the top pull ring(s)

Now photos of Operation Dauget Jaguar A's show them having seats with the overhead pull ring

Plenty more photos here

http://www.dstorm.eu/pages/en/france/jaguar.html

so I would say Mk.4 based upon those photos.

I have a good book on French jets in Dauget/Desert Storm. I will pull it out later and see if I can find that info.

The differences are noticeable. Thing is, I already modified the kit seat to look like a Mk.9 (the RAF birds carried this) only to learn later that French Jags were equipped with Mk. 4s at some point.  Makes me want to cry.  Hahaha.

Ill start looking at in action pics as you suggested. The rivet counter in me is acting up again.

Sorry that I could not be more helpful there. How much difference visually is there between the two seat types? If it is major, perhaps some image searches will give you the answer. Photos of Jaguar As in Chad, Desert Storm, Deliberate Force, and Allied Force should not be too hard to find on the net. Just maybe you might get lucky that way.

I am not familiar with the answer. However, if you find out when the switch was made from Mk.4's to Mk.9's, I am sure that will hold your answer.

Jaguar A Ejection Seat
Posted by allan on Sunday, December 8, 2013 11:10 PM

Anyone familiar with this?  Im currently building a French Jaguar A that flew in Desert Storm.  I know early Jaguar As had MB Mk.4 ejection seats, but that some of them were refitted with Mk. 9s.

Were French Jaguar As equipped with Mk.4s or Mk.9s during Desert Storm?

Help would be most appreciated.
