Real good chance I am going to be building this bird with my son. I have noticed that there are a few different ones which I believe is mostly trim differnces. Question is, which one of the Hasegawa P-51Ds would you buy and what aftermarket accessories would you suggest if you were to build one.
Cockpit kit
Main gear and wheels
what else????

The kits themselves are all the same. The difference is in the boxing, decal sheet , and associated instruction sheets. I have not built that kit in decades, but I believe Verlinden does a nice, fairly inclusive update set for it. There is also an old PE set from Eduard to dress it up with. Resin wheels from True Details, and possibly a vacuform canopy from Squadron rounds out the things I can come up with for this kit off the top of my head.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

You know you gotta post some pictures of this build with you and your son in them........
I think it's great that you're willing to do this with your son. So many dads nowadays just don't spend enough time with their kids. Hope it all goes well for you.

On The Bench: Tamiya 1/32nd Mitsubishi A6M5 Model 52 Zeke For Japanese Group Build
Build one at a time? Hah! That'll be the day!!
SilverYou would be better off with the Tamiya P-51D
I think because it is less detailed the Hasegawa is a better choice to build with a younger person.
