Idea for a Stealth Fighter display
Posted by USMC6094 on Saturday, February 22, 2014 9:23 AM

Ok folks, I've been batting around an idead for the last few months and those of you that remember back in the late eighties when the Stealth anything craze was on and Monogram and Italeri(Testors) released a bunch of models of what were completely wrong aircraft in the end when the F-117 was finally revealed to the tax paying public.

Well, I've gotten the bug to break my decided upon area of work (Marine Corps/Navy anything) and do a four model display of the stealth fighters that never were but at the center will be a 1/48 Testors F-117, that is if I can find one............

So far I have the Testors F-19 and MiG-37, what I'm missing is the Monogram Stealth Fighter, you remember the dog bone looking thing..............and I'm looking, quite unsucessfully so far, the Testors F-117 in 48th scale.

All the kits are going to be done pretty much straight from the box except for new ejection seats and other little details from wire and some left overs.

Would any of you have a line on the two MIA kits I need? I'll pay reasonable prices for them, but I'll revert to the new Tamiya F-117 if I have to, though I would rather have the Testors kit.

Anyway, hope you like the idea and for any help you might be able to provide.

I did something similar in 1/72 scale using the "little" Italeri/Testor design, the Monogram SnapTite kit, and the initial Hasegawa release which was based on the first released photo of the F-117. The stands are Hasegawa's, and the markings are all from a single TwoBobs sheet for Hollowman AFB Nighthawks.

The first one is what I'm looking for, I already have the F-19. Thanks for the link, I'll add the first one to my watch list
