You don't need to know a thing about airplanes to mix paint.  Go to google images and type in the color you want.  It will display samples of that color.  From there, you should be able to mix your color by eye.  For example, Blue + Yellow=Green.  Shade of Green?  Adjust the Blue/Yellow ratio.  Lighten or darken with Black, white, or, even shades of gray.  All you really need for non metallic colors are the 3 primary colors plus black and white.  I apologize in advance if I'm "talking down" to you.  That was never my thought or intent.  BTW...On  google images as a color source suggestion,  I googled: Zinc Chromate, US Interior Green, Blue Aotake, Magnesium Alloy, Panzer Gray, RAF Greenish Gray Matt, Ferrari Red, and, Radome Tan to get a well rounded selection.  I got usable samples of any color I typed in.

Good luck and Good hunting

Ray

Does it really matter?  The paints contained in those kits are junk anyways.

I just had a look at the kit on line and it does give the impression that it come with all the paints you need, especially to some one like yourself who is new to aircraft, and even more so someone new to modelling al together. I did find one site selling it that lists the other paints needed

www.gizzmoheaven.com/.../Product.html

So that's good of that site. It looks lie Revell have just included the major colours, and looking at those pots, I would be surprised if they were enough to do the job, but I might be wrong.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Hi all I am very frustrated I was going to start the Spit tonight from the set which i stupidly thought would contain all the paints required (planes being new to me) but no the kit comes with 6 colours the Spit needs greenish grey matt, medium grey matt and yellow matt none of which are in the kit colours (I have got yellow matt) so that one is ok but the lancaster needs 13 colours and the Hawker Hurricane needs 13.
I am very disappointed that Revell have sold a kit as if as if you have everything you need to complete it when in fact you haven't i don't understand the logic i would rather pay a couple more quid and have all the colours i need.
If I knew enough about the planes i could probably mix the colours I need from what i have already got but i don't so guess i will have to buy the colours
I need. I bought the kit knowing I knew nothing about planes and thought it a good way to start, what with it coming with all the colours i need. (I have scanned the box and can see no where that it says you need to buy more paints to complete the models as illustrated).
Oh well iv'e had my moan there's nothing I can do about it, it's just so frustrating.
