My three 1973 Monogram White box kits nostalgic builds

Love 'em!  Each one of those really takes me back to the days of my youth.  I built the same ones but only the Corsair survives to this day.  Those were some fun builds and yours turned out great.

Memories indeed! Nice work there! I built all of those same exact kits back then, but none survived to this day. I think my favorite was the F4U and that checkered cowl band.

Nice builds, well done!  Did you keep the operating features, like the folding wings on the Hellcat?

I was looking at the hub on the Hellcat.  Was it one of those where you had to press a hot blade up against it to flatten it out and thereby hold the wheel on?  I remember being a kid and I couldn't finish up a model until my dad did the "dangerous" work for me.  That was so cool back then especially to a kid like me.

very nice builds. Almost all of my builds are straight from the box with no PE, resin....etc...I find that after market parts are so expensive.

good looking trio, I have one of those three (the Corsair) in the stash, one built (the Zero) and am looking for the other (the Hellcat)

Spent many hours refighting WW II in the Pacific with those beauties. My best friend and I even tried to figure out how big of board we would need for his row boat. Every Navy plane needed a carrier. We never did get that accomplished. Excellent job on those three.

Great looking builds, brings back a lot of memories. I still have the ones I built as a kid, although they are now stored in a box. My daughter used to like playing with them once in a while, & they kept her from touching my newer builds that I have on display.

Yes!!  Flaring the axle ends!  My dad gave me an old screwdriver to use, so I wouldn't gunk up a new one or a pocketknife blade.  I would heat it on a burner on the stove then apply it to the axle.

Friggin cool!!! Thats some good lookin' builds there roadrunner! I cut my teeth on kits like this and they are a complete blast to build. If I'm not mistaken the Hellcat's wings could fold right. I think the Corsairs could too.

God!  I remember building several Hellcats from that era...  Seamed like every time my grandparents came over I got one.  I sure wish I still had them now.  Good looking builds!  Thanks for sharing them with us!!!  Raymond

I remember doing that with the heating of the knife and melting the plastic! Nostalgia indeed!

Wow I had forgotten all about  doing that. I was always worried about melting to much. It was the same for the ruberband tracks.
