1/48 KA-3B in-box observations

I get mine for "almost free." In 1/72, they come in the Fujimi KA-6D kits, so, for each Tanker I bought, I got a D-704 for a Skyhawk, Corsair II or Skyraider model.

I will only ever need one for a KA-6D, as I intend to model only one of the Tankers with the Pod mounted for a back up.

I didn't realize that you already had the basket in the Steel Beach line, Darren. As you might remember, that is not my scale. I do think that a lot of people are going to want your improved part as a separate piece, just so they can finish a tanker sitting on the wheels. That is unless your whole set is better than the kit parts, of course.

D-704,is that the "buddy tank"? One comes in the 1/48 AMT ES-3A kit.

Sometimes you need a break from Tomcats! I've got a replacement pod/basket in the Steel Beach line. I'm going to rework it a bit for this new release. It also has a corrected refueling vent tip.

Is there a 1/48 scale model of the D-704 Refueling Store available somewhere?  I am asking because it looks like some Navair resin producer is going to have to make some stowed baskets for KA-3 fans, and the D-704 might be the best place to find a pattern to look at while carving something. You could sell them to KA-3B, EKA-3B and A-3B with refueling package modelers. (A-3B with package would be cool, open bomb bay doors, loaded with bombs, with the basket hanging down behind it)
