Blowing up the instructions is defiantly one idea. Strange you have that issue with white tac, I've never had a problem with it lifting the paint and I find I can get both good hard edged schemes and more feathered edges in 72nd. Its just down to how you press it down and what angle you use the airbrush from.

For marking out the edges, a pencil can work fine, but can be awkward to see if its a dark colour.

Hey guys. Thanks for the help. It's the standard OTB scheme I'm going for from the Italeri kit, 'King Fahd AFB, desert storm'. My prob us marking out the lines on the kit for airbrushing. I can use white tax, but I've found it peels paint off, and I think getting the smooth flowing lines might be difficult with it too. Was thinking of blowing up the kits instructions to scale, and then masking it off with tape. Does that make sense?

You're going have to show the scheme  like Bish said to be a bit more specific, as to what sort of scheme you're going for, as the actual painting process can vary considerably.

Do you have an image of the sort of scheme you going for. Are you using an airbrush or hand brush.

If your doing the older green campo scheme, which if I am right has 3 colours, you will need something to mask the edges. For those patterns, something like Silly Putty is really useful. I use White Tac myself, but Silly putty isn't easy to get here.
