Revell's 1/32 G-6 Build
Posted by Tankster on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 6:58 PM

Hey everybody, just showing off the Gustav I'll be working on concurrently with my Panther D. Premium Ed.

It's the sort of new G-6 from Revell of Germany plus a handfull of aftermarket goodies:

Eduard Brassin Landing Gear

True Details G-6 Wheels

Fine Molds Luftwaffe seatbelts

Quickboost Exhausts

Master Model MG131 brass barrels.

Decal Options from Kagero Topcolors:

Bf 109 G Over Germany

Luftwaffe Over The Far North

Luftwaffe Over the Mediterranean

I haven't decided on a marking option yet.  I'm going to be building the late style Gustav w/ the Erla canopy.

This is a fantastic kit with real decent details. Another home run for Rev of Germany. I picked this one up from Squadron during a big sale and if I remember correctly, I think I paid under $20 for it. Unfortunately it does not bring an engine but the cockpit details are great. IMO it makes a fantastic OOB build as is. I did get the Eduard seat belts for mine.

I will look for the link I have with tons of info on this model and will post it if and when I find it. Will be following you r progress on this one.

Here's what I have so far, the exterior mostly done.  The fit is great but there are still some gaps which need smoothing over unfortunately.

Cockpit finished:

Exterior shot, my idiot self dropped it on my bench and broke off the spindle for the prop so I had to replace it with a toothpick,  and the brass MG 131 gun barrels which I may have to move back as I think they stick out a little too far.  I added a thin strip of stretched sprue to supercharger intake to simulate the weld bead.  It kills me that manufacturers still have a hard time getting this right.

The excellent Eduard Brassin Landing Gear and True Details wheels all painted up.

Looks like you've got a lot of nice AM there. There are a lot of good markings in those Kagero books. I'm looking forward to doing this build as well, someday. I know what you mean about the intake. I got one from Eagle for my recent G-14 build. Here's a pic from when I was working on it.

Nice work so far. I'll be following along.

I started to buy the one from EE, but they wanted $20.00 for shipping and i felt that was  bit much for some resin parts and a book.

I went ahead and painted the elevators in the usual rlm 74/75 splinter scheme.  I used my mix of Tamiya Acrylics for this trying to come as close as possible to the Gunze colors.  Vallejo Model Air RLM 76 is on the undersides. The surface detail is beautifully done, I was thoroughly impressed.
