Italeri 1/48 Spitfire Mk.IX American Aces kit

This Kit is an excellent kit and a joy to build, the only problem I had was deciding which colour scheme to chose from a possible 5.

I went with the personal aircraft of the 309 Fighter Squadron's commanding officer, Maj. Garth Jared, Spitfire Mk.IX WZ-GJ carried his initials and 2 kill markings. The 309th squadron emblem of a fighting Donald Duck and the name "Eleanor" also personalized his aircraft. Maj. Jared assumed command of the 309th FS in November 1943 and retained command through the squadron's transition to P-51 Mustangs. During April 1944 while escorting a bomber mission to Sofia, Bulgaria his aircraft was hit by flak and he was lost.

So I chose this scheme as I love the Middlestone/Dark Earth/Azure camo, and for something new I used the Italeri acrylic paints to paint it. The paints are nice but are very thick and need a lot of thinning. The decals went on a treat and conformed nicely. I really recommend this kit, and would do it again in another scheme.
Thanks for looking.
