Accurate Miniatures 1/48 TBF Avenger
Posted by 101stAirborne on Monday, August 11, 2014 9:42 AM

Hi everyone,

I built this kit mostly OOB. This kit is very detailed out of the box and didn't need much. I scratch built all of the seat belts from Tamiya masking tape and metal for the buckles. I used Eduard masks for the greenhouse canopy. I Painted and weathered with Model Master acrylics and enamels.

Thanks for looking!

Really nice. I hope I can approach this level of detail when I finally start on my TBF.

Definitely a beauty and one to be proud of! Nice work! One question, how would you rate the A.M. as a kit, good fit decent fit, that sort of thing? I have never even open the box on and Accurate Miniatures kit, but they have got a couple of subjects that have some appeal to me.

Amazing! Perfect paint and weathering. The soft masking really makes it look like the real deal. And If I may answer Sub's question- AM kits are full of excellent detail all around. They fit pretty well for the most part, and yes, they did kit some very neat subjects that no one else did during their day.

This is a gorgeous looking Avenger.  I think this is one of President Bush's planes too if I'm not mistaken.  I've been wanting to build that one for a while.  It looks great and I've been waiting to get my hands on one of these AccuMin versions.  I'll just have to be jealous of yours for a little while longer it seems.

Looks great!  There was a doc in one of the hangers at the Mesquite Air Port back in the 80s that had an Avenger.  God that was a big bird, but graceful in the air.  Thanks for sharing  Raymond

Wow!........ George Sr. would be proud.  Great canopies too.  Did you tape them off or are those the Eduard pre-cut masks?  I have it in the stash but it intimidates me...  Thanks for posting...
