Eielson AFB's "Lady of the Lake" identified

Eielson AFB Alaska's "Lady of the Lake" B-29/50 has been positively identified as a WB-29, 44-62214, which is a historical aircraft.  This aircraft detected the radiation of the Soviet's first atomic test in 1949.

Interesting story, can't say I have heard about this myself. But I have to ask, why has this never been recovered.

Being a stripped aircraft, it wasn't economically feasible to recover it and restore it.  No props, engines, wings, etc.
