I see a lot of post on this aircraft. I just picked up a Monogram 1/48 P-40b at a Goodwill store for .99 cents Nothing fancy but I would like to paint in OD/ neutral gray I'm looking for pictures of a P-40b that might have been there the main thing I'm looking for is the color of the spinner red, yellow or od
George Welch's P-40 is well documented, along with Ken Taylor's. A Google image search will turn up those birds, also, Squadron's "In Action" series has a color painting by Don Greer on the cover.
You will have to change the pitot tube from the British "cranked" style to the US "straight arrow" type as the kit comes with the British style. And P-40B's carried no drop tank.
WIP: Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 73rd BS B-26, 40-1408, torpedo bomber attempt on Ryujo
Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 22nd BG B-26, 7-Mile Drome, New Guinea
Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as LB-30, AL-613, "Tough Boy", 28th Composite Group
Urich, the most likely reason your seeing a lot of P-40s right now is the tail end of a group build. That said, I can't wait to see what you come up with! Raymond
