Robert, thanks very much for the kind and uplifting words! They are greatly appreciated. That was probably the most challenging kit I've ever built, and everything that I had read about the kit mentioned none of the issues that I encountered. Guess I had a lemon, and I'm sure every kit manufacturer has had at least one. I learned a lot from the paint sessions, and especially the photo-etch sessions - I learned that my eyes ain't what they used to be when it comes to small photo-etched parts!!

I hope that you have a great time building your Fw-190F-8. They're great-looking aircraft. Kurt Tank knew how to design a mean, but beautiful, aircraft.

Gary:  the one thing I will take away from your build story is that we modelers need to maintain a strong and continuing commitment to adapt to the roadblocks and challenges a kit often throws our way.  Kudo's to you for hanging tough through the fuselage fit problems and the painting/decals issues.   You never tossed in the towel, and instead never let the F-190 beat you.  I trust we all are proud of you.  And as for the final result...she looks fantastic!  The red and white striped paint scheme blew me away...never have seen that before...you did a great job with it; as for stripes on some components not lining up, well,  we all owe you for helping our builds avoid that issue now.  (You were wise in painting the stripes rather than using the kit decals; I had a set of "invasion stripes" on my P-47 Thunderbolt bubble top that drove me nuts when I tried to apply them.  They cracked, tore, and became a nightmare application.  I have now painted stripes on my later builds when feasible.  Again....no need to hang your head low; you did a very, very nice job on this one.  My next aircraft build will be a 1/32 FW-190F8 from Hasagwa that I bought a few months ago off ebay.  It came with a Big Ed super detail set.....hope I do as well with adapting to any kit and/or photo-etch problems as you did.   Robert
