You can build an EKA-3B from the KA-3B kit. All the parts are in there, but nothing mentioned in the instruction sheet. They will need to tool new fuselage halves if they want to release an RA, EA, and ERA-3B. Steel Beach has conversions for the RA, EA, and TA-3B's. I've started on the ERA-3B, but it's kind of stalled out.
The Whale. C-5: Aluminum Cloud. The B-66 was a completely different animal than the A3D (All Three Dead).
Chasing the ultimate build.

I hope they come out with a B-66 at some time too.
I gave myself Trumpeter's 1/48th A-3D2 Skywarrior for my Birthday! Digging through the box turned up 16 sprues, 3 sheets of brass PE, and 3 sheets of decals. Looking at the parts, I was surprised to see that the kit can be built with the flaps down because no mention of that is made anywhere on the instructions or on the box other than to say the flap hinges for building the kit flaps down are unused parts. Right now I think Trumpeter is marketing both the KA-3B and the A-3D2. Some of the unused parts are telling me it's possible that there will be an RA-3B and an EA-3B coming down the pike as well.
Two big disappointments with the kit. First and worst is the main gear wells. You should be able to see right through the fuselage at the forward end of the wells; You cannot. Next is the canopy. It's very nicely done but, it's done in one piece. I would like to have had a separate overhead escape hatch.
Hopefully, that's the worst of it. The best is: OH BOY! A 1/48th Whale!!! I'll post more about it when I start the kit.
All the best
